Google's handy streaming device Chromecast debuted in 2013, and since then it has garnered fans around the world who love the idea of streaming their favorite movies and TV shows on their big TV screens.

As you know, it's sufficient just to plug the Chromecast device into your TV's HDMI port to enjoy all the options it offers, including streaming media content from the most popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and many others.

Unfortunately, due to the bad blood between Amazon and Google, Amazon Prime is not one of the streaming apps supported on Chromecast. This leaves Amazon viewers with only one option – buying Amazon's Fire TV or Fire TV Stick to be able to watch their favorite programs.

But, what if we told you that you can watch Amazon Prime on Chromecast without spending a cent?

Here's how.

Connecting Chromecast And Amazon Prime

We're assuming you already have a Chromecast device and an Amazon Prime membership. If you don't, you won't be able to stream content from their platform.

Plug the Chromecast device into your TV and connect it to your laptop, desktop computer, tablet or mobile phone. Both devices need to be connected to the same Internet network, and your computer, tablet or phone will need to use Google Chrome as the browser.

Once everything is connected, open Chrome and find the three dots in the upper right corner of the browser. Click on the three dots and then select 'Cast' option. If all devices are connected correctly, the extension will automatically detect Chromecast as an available casting device.

Now you only need to navigate to Amazon Prime on your computer or phone and select the video you want to watch. That’s it. You're ready to stream.

When you're done, just click on the 'Cast' option again and select 'Stop Casting' to finish your watching session.

Disadvantages Of Watching Amazon Prime On Chromecast

If you want to watch Amazon Prime on Chromecast, here are a few downsides worth considering.

Although Amazon Prime app offers you watching videos at 1080p, streaming them through your browser will significantly lower the quality. Depending on your Internet connection you will get stuck with quality up to 720p, poor audio and even signal issues and glitches.

Also, before you start your streaming session, make sure your devices are fully charged or keep a charger close by. This connection can drain your battery fast.

You won't have to worry about the battery if you're using your desktop computer for this, but then your watching experience may get hindered because you'll have to navigate the videos (pause, skip parts, switch to another video) from the browser.

Enhance Your Amazon Prime Experience

Just like some other popular streaming platforms, Amazon Prime offers different movies, TV shows and documentaries depending on your location. Of course, the American Amazon Prime offers the largest database of content.

No matter where you live, you can now access the American version of the app. You just need a fast and reliable VPN to unlock the best programs that you can't watch in your country due to geo-restrictions.

Amazon and Google may never bury the hatchet, but that doesn't mean you should be caught in the crossfire and miss out on your favorite movies and TV shows. With just a few clicks you can still watch Amazon Prime on Chromecast and enjoy the top-notch streaming experience on a big screen.
